Billy Ray Cyrus On Parenting.

By chel | April 17, 2008

Parenting is not the easiest “job” in the world. As a matter of fact it is the hardest, but it has to be harder for a parent who has a worldwide celebrity as a daughter, like Miley Cyrus. So how does her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, do it?

According to Valerie Nome, a writer for OK Magazine, www.ok-magazine.com., “It’s giving her room to be a kid,” he explains. “Room to be a young lady and to grow and find her own path and do things her own way.” A lot of parents would like to put their children in this nice temperature-controlled bubble. I am sure there are at least a few out there who would like their parents to be like Miley’s dad.

Billy Ray Cyrus has always tried to raise Miley that way, “I’ve always tried to be her best friend,” he adds.”That’s what I continue to do now. She needs her space to do her thing, but I’m always there and I’m always a phone call away or a text. She always knows if she needs me, I’m there.”

With their busy life how do they handle it, “…quite frankly we play everything in our world by ear. Miley and I both do — we play music by ear, when we take the floor as actors, we kind of go with our instincts a lot. That’s what we do in life also. We play it by ear.”

Playing it by ear is a good way to handle life. Since things do not always happen the way that we plan them, being flexible helps. So I say why not go with the flow.
